Age Rule

This event will follow the USAT's "Age Up" Rule.  This means that the athlete's age is determined by how old they will be by the end of the year (12/31/17).   For example, if you child is 8, but will turn 9 on October 10, 2017, he will be considered a 9 year old for this race.   If your child is not comfortable with the distance, but still wants to participate, please indicate this under "Comments" on the registration.  We want kids to have fun and be safe as a priority!

Transition Area

After checking in on Saturday morning, each athlete will get to set up his/her bike, helmet, towel, and clothes in the transition area.   This area will be used as the swim/bike transition as well as the bike/run transition.   All bikes and helmets will need to be labeled with bib numbers.  These labels will be in your registration packets.  There will be bike racks available.  Please do not move other athletes' bikes.  No parents will be allowed in the transition area after 7:45, including during the race.

Registration

Advance registration is preferred by signing up electronically using the link below.  After May 1st, t-shirt sizes will not be guaranteed, but we will take registrations up to the morning of the race.  After filling out the electronic registration, please drop off the registration fee of $20 per athlete to the designated mailbox inside the Clubhouse.  Checks can be made payable to SevenOaks HOA.

Check In

We would prefer that you pick up your registration packet (including your t-shirt & bib number) on Friday, May 12th from         5:30-7:00pm at the clubhouse.  We will be offering a rules/instruction course talk at 5:45pm.  This will contain great information on the course and general triathlon information for beginners.

If you would prefer, you can pick up your registration packet on Saturday, starting at 7:00am.

All participants can start setting up their bikes and gear in the transition area from 7:00-7:45am on Saturday.

Parking

Please try to walk/bike down to the pool area on Saturday morning as parking will be limited.  The parking lot will be closed, and no parking will be allowed on Preserve Lane, by the tennis courts, for the safety of the athletes.

Swim Start:

The swim will take place in the 25 yard, outdoor pool.  The kids will start one at a time, in 3 second intervals.  The start will be at the shallow end of the pool.  The kids will swim up one lane, then move over to the next lane to swim back in the next lane.  After swimming, athletes will leave pool, enter transition area, and start on the bike course.

Bike Course:

Athletes are required to wear a helmet.  Athletes will not be allowed to compete without a bike helmet.   Athletes will be walking their bikes out of transition (no riding will be allowed in the transition area).  We will have signs and volunteers helping direct athletes, but make sure that your child knows which division he/she is in & the following information:    The Junior Division will be completing 1 bike lap.  The Intermediate Division will be completing 2 bike laps.  The Senior Division will be completing 4 bike laps.  Each time the athlete passes back through the main intersection of Seven Oaks Parkways and Preserve Lane, he/she will need to get a tally marked on their arm.  Athletes will be allowed back into transition once they have completed the correct number of laps.    Once entering the transition area, athletes will be directed to stop riding and walk their bikes back to their gear to star the run course.

Run Course:

The run portion will be run on sidewalks.  Again,  volunteers and signs will help direct athletes along the route. The Junior Division will run along Preserve Lane, and turn around at a sign labeled "Junior Division Turn Around."  The Intermediate Division will run along Preserve Lane, turn left onto Preserve Circle, and turn around at a sign labeled "Intermediation Division Turn Around."  The Senior Division will run to the end of Tree Lake Court, run the cul-de-sac, and run back to the transition area.

Finish Line:  The finish line will be in between the tennis courts and transition area.  Snacks and celebration music will be in the lawn area behind the clubhouse.

Awards:

Our main goal is to have a fun and safe event where kids can have fun with neighbors and get interested in participating in other triathlons!  We will have awards for the top 3 finishers in each age division per gender.  The awards will be handed out at the conclusion of the Junior Race.
